1.19:1 Film Festival
1.19:1 is a response to a brief set by MUBI to create a visual identity and publication for a film festival of our choosing. My festival looks at films with the aspect ratio 1.19:1, investigating the weird and wonderful nuances that came with filming in this ratio. Touching on cinematography, sound design, politics and even music, the publication also celebrates the associated German expressionist movement, of which many of the 1.19:1 films were a part of.
The modular grid within the publication is composed of rectangles in the ratio 1.19:1, matching format and context.
